BILLING AND THE BILLABLE HOUR
The Incisive Media law.com site has an article by Aric Press from The American Lawyer about the status and future of the billable hour. Aric is reporting on comments made in Forbes magazine by Cravath presiding partner Evan Chesler. Here is the link to Aric’s article. The article is useful for the Evan Chesler and Aric Press observations, and its utility is increased by links to several intelligent discussions referring to the same topic.
I thought particularly to bring this item to the Incisive Legal Intelligence blog because we have seen an explosion of interest in billing data in the inquiries we get here in the Research group. The professionalization of law firm management, among other things, has led to a more focused use of data, including the exploration of relationships among data sets. Billing’s time has apparently arrived, speeded onward by current economic conditions.
