Intrigued by Rees Morrison’s recent exercise searching for books on “law department” on Amazon.com (the search turned up 133 hits, but 100 were commencement addresses!), we thought we’d try the same exercise, but searching for books on “law firm marketing” instead. Our search turned up 47 listings, but only 18 were books (the rest were papers or treatises "of uncertain binding"), and only half had been published since 2000.
Checking ALM’s own book publishing division, LawCatalog.com, we found 6 books, 5 videos, 2 CD-ROMs, one audio book, one e-book, and one newsletter having to do with law firm marketing. This included Henry Dahut’s 2004 volume “Marketing the Legal Mind,” which is also sold on Amazon. We’re not sure if there’s a consensus in the legal marketing community on what might be considered the “best” and the “classics," but we'd love to hear your opinions.
