The annual Vault.com rankings of Big law firms are out, and New York firms dominate the list. The top five include: Wachtell, Cravath, Sullivan & Cromwell, Skadden, and Davis Polk. Three Los Angeles firms appear in the top twenty: Latham (#8), Gibson Dunn (#18), and O’Melveny (#20), along with two Chicago firms – Kirkland & Ellis (#10) and Sidley Austin (#16) – and three firms based in Washington, D.C. – Covington & Burling (#11), Williams & Connolly (#17), and Arnold & Porter (#19). Besides the prestige rankings, Vault ranks firms a variety of other ways – by region, by various quality of life issues, by diversity profile, by practice area, and by partner prestige.
