Los Angeles-based Manatt, Phelps & Phillips has raised its associate starting salary to $145,000, according to a report today in ALM’s San Francisco newspaper The Recorder. The raise makes Manatt the second L.A.-based firm to hit that mark for first-year associates, following an increase in February by Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges. It's too soon to say if Manatt's move will trigger a broader wave of increases. For now, most firms in the area are saying they'll wait and see.
More information about first-year salaries is available in the Associate Salary Update, available through ALM Research Online for $300.
