According to various news reports, including this piece in The American Lawyer, New York’s Dewey Ballantine and San Francisco's Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe are discussing a possible merger, the leaders of both firms confirmed 9/11/06. It remains unclear how far the discussions have advanced, but if a merger is completed, the combined firm would have more than 1,200 lawyers and hit nearly $1 billion in revenues, based on the most recent Am Law 100.
