According to a report Tuesday in ALM’s Philadelphia newspaper, The Legal Intelligencer, Philadelphia-based firm Saul Ewing is “looking to expand its Washington, D.C. presence and strengthen its labor, employment and biotech practices through a merger with 20-attorney boutique Schmeltzer Aptaker & Shepard. Saul Ewing managing partner David S. Antzis said the merger would make the Washington office the firm's third largest behind Philadelphia and Baltimore. The merger, which is subject to shareholder votes from both firms, would put Saul Ewing close to the 300-lawyer mark overall.”
