TGIF: Kats in Your Komputer

Brought to our attention by the Cal Law Legal Pad Blog recently was the internet phenomenon known as “lolcats”, described by Wikipedia as “images combining photographs of animals, most frequently cats, with a humorous and idiosyncratic caption … The name "lolcat" is a compound word of ‘lol’ and "cat’.” Because they could find no legal-themed captions, and “because it was a slow Friday afternoon,” Legal Pad came up with some of their own lolcats in their blog post, appropriate titled We R in Ur Computer, Killing Ur Billable Minutz.

 

A Lawyer Walks into a Bar ...

We heard about this one on AboveTheLaw.com, and no, it's not a new, or even an old, lawyer joke. It's a critically acclaimed, independent documentary film about lawyers and the legal profession, according to ATL. Their posting about the movie, A Lawyer Walks Into a Bar, provides a synopsis, as well as links to the trailer and official web site. The documentary is about is a celebration of the law and triumph over adversity that follows six future lawyers of all ages and backgrounds as they undertake the rigorous and excruciating California Bar Exam, while also dealing thematically with certain hot button issues in our profession.

You can't order it through NetFlix yet (I tried), and it doesn't seem to be playing anywhere but film festivals. However, if you just can't wait, you can order it through the official web site for $22.

TGIF: Batgirl the Public Librarian

As always, thanks to the Law Librarians Blog and Joe Hodnicki for sharing their “Friday Fun” with the rest of us. In this never-aired 1966 pilot, the Dynamic Duo are introduced to, and saved by, Batgirl, who is a librarian at the Gotham Public Library. The 6-minute clip can be viewed by clicking here .

TGIF: Librarians Seem to Have the Most Fun

That’s what one would think if you follow the occasional “Friday Fun” blog postings on the Law Librarian Blog. One recent Friday Fun featured a Monty Python bit in which the off-beat comics hold a Librarian Job Interview. Another features a song called Librarians Don’t Die. It’s Friday. Have fun!

TGIF: A Blawger Walked into a Bar ...

Or, as Bob Ambrogi put it on the Law.com Blog Network, A Blawger, a Priest and a Rabbi... The point being that there is a contest going on right now in the blogosphere to name the Funniest Law Blog. The survey, or contest, is sponsored by New York lawyer Nicole L. Black on her blog, Legal Antics. Voting deadline is June 25^th at 10p.m. (No time standard given.)
